Welcome

The Active School Flag (ASF) is awarded to schools that strive to achieve a physically educated and physically active school community. The process aims to get more schools, more active, more often.

Scoil Padre Pio are currently striving to achieve a physically educated and physically active school community. With help from our teachers, students, parents and wider community we hope that our school will be recognised as an official ‘Active School’.

To make this happen, the whole school community will need to work together. With everyone’s help, ideas and support, we expect to be flying the Active School Flag with pride very soon.

Get Active!

To become an Active School, we will need to take a look at 3 key areas to begin with.

Physical Education: Our school PE program will be evaluated to ensure it is as varied and inclusive as possible. We will be including and welcoming ideas from staff and student families. .

Physical Activity: Outside of our traditional PE curriculum, we will be introducing many fun activities to get the school moving well and moving often. Regular movement breaks, gonoodle sessions, DEAR (drop everything and run) and DEAD (drop everything and dance) sessions will be made part of the daily school routine. We also will make our school yards and hall more positive, fun, inspiring environments for all.

Partnerships: We want to introduce children to as many different activities as possible. We invite the local community, sports clubs, physical activity facilitators to visit our school to give ‘taster’ training sessions to our students with the hope that our children will then go on to enjoy these activities outside of school.
